Fantasy football waiver wire pickups: RB rankings for NFL Week 4
QB | RB | WR | TE
Week 3 of the 2017 football season came to a close last night when the Cowboys defeated the Cardinals on Monday Night Football. Larry Fitzgerald shined in a losing effort but he sure did electrify us with those catches. Well, it’s time to begin looking ahead to Week 4 to get the information you need to get ahead of your league competition on the waiver wire.
FantasyGurunation.com will list the top waiver wire pick-ups available in most leagues. Depending on injuries not known at the time of this article, other names may appear throughout the week as we update the information as it comes in. Fantasy football waiver wire pickups is a crucial key to dominating your league and making the playoffs.
Wendell Smallwood – RB – Philadelphia Eagles
Darren Sproles has been placed on IR with a wrist injury and a torn ACL. He will require surgery on both and it’s possible we may have seen the last fo this exciting player. Blount had a touchdown but our money is on Wendell Smallwood to come out of this as the Eagles main back.
Smallwood had a dozen carries on Sunday, rushing for 71 yards which according to my math is 5.9 YPC. Smallwood has had value this season as a late flier in some leagues especially after LeGarrette Blount was benched in Week 2. Smallwood has the potential to be a three-down back, he a legit flex-worthy option especially in PPR leagues.
Branden Oliver – RB – San Diego Chargers
Melvin Gordon was limited with a knee injury against Kansas City, and it’s possible he could miss some time in the future. Brandon Oliver has little competition in this Chargers backfield and he has produced admirably in the past when filling in. If necessary, he has the tools to be a three-down.
Samaje Perine – RB – Washington Redskins
I had reservations about Perine on this list with the play of Chris Thompson this year in the Washington backfield. Rob Kelly is hurt and even Perine left the game on Sunday night with a hand injury after gaining 49 yards on 19 carries. However, Perine has the talent to take over lead back duties.
Alex Collins – RB – Baltimore Ravens
Terrence West fumbles and we never see him again as Alex Collins racks up 82 yards on nine carries, as Baltimore is embarrassed in London. John Harbaugh likes this guy and with Danny Woodhead sidelined, Collins may have just earned himself more playing time.
